PostSubject: V-wing Fighter Review   Mon Oct 29, 2007 7:19 am

First, for the overview of the set, the simple S@H picture:

I decided to review one of the smaller, more popular sets. The V-wing fighter.
Despite being on the market for over two years, the V-wing fighter is still in the top 25 best selling lego sets! Why is this?
I got this for my birthday the year it came out. My friend got it for me after I had pointed out my intrest in the Star wars line. I opened it and was dissappointed that it was the $10 kit that everyone had. The reason that everyone else had it though, I soon discovered for myself. This set is stocked with playability at a great price!
The set is long and thin for the most part, with the 'nose' of the fighter jutting far out like it should. The thinness soon gives way to the main body of the fighter, which houses the cockpit, engines, guns, and wings. The dual cannons are mounted on the same piece as the wings, which unfortunantly fold up and down instead of forwards. The wing system is similar to the Jedi Starfighter, except more durable.
Near the wings and behind the cockpit are the 'engine flaps', which can be folded up and down and hide a R4's head. (Just the head, no body.) The engines are right behind the engine flaps, obviously, and the cockpit is directly in front. The cockpit is the only letdown, as it is not 'airtight'. A small gap is between it and the body.
Summary: This is a great set with only one or two small flaws, and it's cheap price makes it a great buy or gift.

Parts: 7/10 This set doesn't contain any unique parts.
Minifigs: 6/10 The Clone Pilot is an asset, but there is no body for the R4 droid.
Detail: 8/10 This set was meant for playability, and thus doesn't contain the greatest detail.
Playability: 10/10 This is a great play set and swooshes without flying apart.
Price to parts: 10/10 Great size and part number for only $10.
Availibility: 10/10 S@H has restocked these and so have numerous stores.
OVERALL RATING: 8.5/10
